Earlier this week Kevin McGraw spotted a large bird on his property in Napan. He thought it was dead, but when walked up to it, he realized the enourmous bird, a male bald eagle, was still alive and had suffered an injury to it's beak. Kevin called the DNR who came quickly to recover the bird. The bird was sent to the Atlantic Wildlife Institute in Fredericton where it later died. The eagle had a serious injury to it's beak that could have been caused by a bullet or perhaps fishing line. The bird was very week, and did not recover even though it was fed liquids. From the condition of the tail feathers, they also estimated the bird had been grounded for some time. Eagles with injured beaks can sometimes have the beaks repaired, but because the repairs need need to often be touched up, the birds are not released back into the wild.[gallery link="file" orderby="rand"].
