The death of Stillman “Tim” Edward Whitney, husband of Christine (White) Whitney of Whitney NB, occurred at his residence on Wednesday, August 19 2015 at the age of 96. Born in Whitney, NB, Tim was the son of the late Russell Whitney and Rosie Allison.
Tim was a retired lumberman and mill worker. He was a veteran of World War II with the Canadian Forestry Corps, 23rd Company. He served in Scotland, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Tim is survived by two sons: Russell William Whitney (Aileen) of Whitney, NB and Clark Andrew Whitney (Nadia) of Toronto, ON; one sister: Myrtle Baisley (Jackson) of Brantford, ON; one brother: Hubert Whitney (Alma); seven grandchildren: Timothy, Elizabeth, Jude, Tammy, Chris, Soren and Maija; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Tim is predeceased by his parents; his first wife: Elizabeth “Betty” (McCaig) Whitney; son: Gavin “Guy”; daughter: Mary Walsh; grandson Paul; five brothers: Elwin, George, Wilson, Lawrence and Ernest; three sisters: Bernetta, Margaret and child sister Margaret.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 24th, 2015 at 11 AM with Pastor Raymond Pitcher officiating. Burial will take place at Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery.
In Tim’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
