Mr. Laurie Willard Black, husband of Edith (Vye) Black, of King George Hwy, Miramichi passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday January 29, 2016 at the age of 92.
Born in Holtville, NB he was the son of the late Hugh and Alice (Munn) Black. He was retired from the Department of Tourism, a very active member of St. Mark’s United Church, member of Northumberland Lodge # 17 F & AM, member of the Order of Eastern Star Prince Charles Chapter, Miramichi Shrine Club, Miramichi Shriners, Odd Fellows and the Highland Society. He also was an Army Veteran of WWll serving in Europe.
Besides his Wife Edith, he is survived by two daughters Donna Brown (Darrel) of Fredericton and Joan Pye (Michael) of Rothesay, two sons Tom (Sandra) of Oak Point and Kenneth (Jennifer) of Miramichi, four sisters; Agnes Stevens (Lawrence) of Miramichi, Irene Dickson (late Robert) of Fredericton, Connie Allen (Joseph) of Miramichi, Noreen Bemrose (Ronald) of Fredericton, two brothers; Eldon of Boiestown, Audrey of Miramichi, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters; Sadie Fowler and Leola Gulliver, three brothers; Manley, Hedley and Hugh Jr.
Mr. Laurie Willard Black is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Tuesday from 5-9. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, Wellington Street, with Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark’s United cemetery later in the spring.
In memory of Laurie donations may be made to St. Mark’s United Cemetery Fund or Miramichi Shrine Club would be appreciated. Please note members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 are asked to assemble at the funeral home Tuesday evening 6:30 p.m. for a Legion Service.
