"Canadian Drag Racer Magazine" features Miramichi Dragway and Noonan Nationals this weekend

The following article appeared in Canadian Drag Racer Magazine on September 8th.  It outlines the 2012 Noonan Nationals being held here Sept.14th-16th

Miramichi, New Brunswick -Sept 8 2012 - The Heads Up Racing Association (HURA), under the leadership of founding member and veteran drag racer Dave Earhart, is set to rock the grand-stands at Miramichi Raceway on September 14-16th, during the 2012 Noonan Nationals in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

HURA is made up of some of the fastest door-slammers this country has to offer and they’re not shy about strutting their stuff as well.

“It looks as if we will have ten of HURA’s baddest hot-rods taking a swing at the Miramichi track and this will actually be my third trip, so I really like this place” says Dave Earhart.

Earhart has been excited about coming back to Miramichi for the 2012 Noonan Nationals ever since event organizer, Trevor Moulton called with the invitation last December.

The entire HURA pro door-slammer group is comprised of several different body styles, models and engine combinations. Earhart continues “we’ve got turbo-charged, super-charged, nitrous, and normally aspirated engines and some of the fellas are pumping out just under 3000 horsepower.”

This HURA group plays by their own set of rules and so far it’s been very well received at both St. Thomas Dragway and the Grand Bend Motorplex. In this style of heads up racing and working on a .400 Pro Tree, these racers have their ET’s capped at 6.50 and will regularly hit speeds of well over 200 MPH. “The fans just go wild because it’s all about who can set the car up best for the track conditions”, says Earhart. “The 6.50 elapsed time cap really levels the playing field.”

Along with Dave Earhart and his Camaro, Trevor Deeks will have his CMS Racing Pontiac on site. They will be joined by Doug Cadman, Jack Brohman, Jerry Ransford, Billy Dineen, Tebor Bogar, and Al Martorino with his Xtreme Motorsports Mustang.

In addition to the HURA Pro Door-slammers, The Noonan Nationals will feature eight other classes of “Heads Up” drag-racing. Event organizer, Trevor Moulton says “We will have something for just about everybody at the 2012 Noonan Nationals.” The classes will include; OUTLAW STREET, TRUE STREET, NATURALLY ASPIRATED, HEADS UP STREET BIKE, HOT STREET (10.90), MODIFIED STREET (11.90), MODERN MUSCLE (12.90), and STREET ELIMINATOR.

The gates at Miramichi Raceway are set to open early on Friday morning with the event scheduled for three great days of HEADS UP drag-racing. Should a rain date become necessary, the schedule shows September 21-23 as the makeup dates for the event. Make sure to pencil this one on your calendar because you will not have a better opportunity to see the fastest, side by side drag-racing Atlantic Canada has to offer.
