Dutcher family shares tribute on social media
Terry Dutcher died in March 2024 at the age of 34. His passing was hard to accept for the many friends and family who loved him.
With the blessing and help from the City of Miramichi, Terry's former co-workers from the Saskatoon company he worked for installed a custom made bench overlooking the Miramichi River in front of Nelson Rural School. When someone does something this thoughtful, its important to share it. His Mom posted the following on Facebook:
"We are so very honoured & proud to have received a Beautiful bench from Terry’s co-workers from IRD over looking our Beautiful Miramichi River across from Nelson Rural School which Terry attended & loved. This was one of his favourite places to visit. We would also like to thank the City for there part of installing this Beautiful memorial bench in honour of my son, Terry."
How could the City refuse? Terry's father, George, was a beloved employee of the City his entire life and also passed suddenly not long after his retirement.

Terry worked as a field technician with International Road Dynamics in Vancouver B.C. for several years but had just recently moved back to Miramichi in 2022. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed many MLB games over the years. Anyone lucky enough to have known Terry would describe him as a “happy-go-lucky” kind of guy. He always had a smile on his face and made the best of life. His energy was unmatched, and his sense of adventure led him on many quests including bungee jumping in the high mountains of Whistler; paragliding & pipe mountain coasting in Revelstoke; go-carting around the city streets of San Francisco; and a boat tour around the island of Alcatraz where he proposed to his beloved wife Sara in 2021. Terry and Sara shared these adventures for 9 years, their last and most treasured one being their wedding that took place on March 9th, 2024.
