Volunteer Miramichi held its first annual Volunteer Recognition night last evening at the Kin Centre. 4 Miramichiers accepted awards in a heartfelt ceremony
National Volunteer Week is April 10 - 16. from Volunteer Miramichi decided to hold an event to honur 4 Miramichi volunteers in 4 categories. The winners were chosen from nominees that were submitted by the community. In the category of Heart and Soul, Sarah Russell accepted the award from Kelsey Legacy, Community Education Coordinator with the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Sarah loves to help others and will go above and beyond to help anyone and everyone. She is always trying to recruit new volunteers and is seen as a role model to those around her. She has been the president of the James M. Hill Alumni Association for the past 5 years, volunteers her time with Volunteer Miramichi, has been involved with Girl Guides for the past 10 years and is also a member of Change Miramichi. She is very committed to the JMH alumni and gives her 100%. She always attends the events, organizes meetings and board members as well as being active in fundraising efforts. She is a mother of 3, works full time and has been a volunteer for over 10 years.
