NB Baseball Alumni Gathering planned For the Weekend of September 28-29, 2012.

Dear Alumni:

After more then 100 years of baseball in New Brunswick with many different teams, countless managers, umpires and players a gathering of all Alumni is being planned in Fredericton for the weekend of September 28-29, 2012.

Many great rivalries between towns and cities were formed over the years but even more close friendships developed.  The league produced some of the best amateur players in the country winning several National Championships.  Some of our Alumni went as far as to play professionally, some making it to the big leagues.  As Alumni we are all very proud to say we played with or against Matt Stairs, Rheal Cormier, Jason Dickson or Paul Hodgson.  The league also saw ex-pro players here from time to time.  In 1990 the league featured the "Florida Project" with each team signing an ex-pro.  In the 1980's fans were lucky enough to watch Bill "Spaceman" Lee compete around the province. Every era had exciting elements to it.

For most of us baseball was a huge part of our lives. We traveled many miles and spent countless hours practicing and playing.   This all happened while we juggled family and work commitments for the fun and competition of the great game of baseball.  As kids we dreamed of playing senior baseball and we idolized the players that came before us in our respective areas.

The Alumni gathering will be over a two day span with the first day being a golf event at the Riverbend Golf Club in Durham.  This event will be a four man scramble with a shot gun start beginning at 11:00am.  Please indicate if you plan on playing so that teams can be made prior.  For golf cart rentals please contact Riverbend Golf Club(506 452-7277) as they will be on a first come first serve basis.  Green fees will be the responsibility of the club. Friday evening tickets will also be available for purchase to a Dinner Theater at the Marysville Hertiage Centre, on "The Life of Alexander Gibson" and the history of historic Marysville.

On day two  of the gathering, the Fredericton Inn will be hosting a Meet and Greet "Dugout Meeting" for Alumni only,  in the afternoon from 1:00 to 4:30pm.  The ladies will be treated to a Wine and Cheese event during the same hours.  The dinner will start with cocktails being served at 5:30 and the meal to follow at 6:00.

The organizing committee has collected many photos, video footage and memorablia from years gone by and Alumni will be able to look it over and reminisce throughout the day. The microphone will be available for some good old stories as there are many to tell.

For many of us, this will be a once in a lifetime event that should not be missed.  The application will be sent to over 550 Alumni from all over the province and abroad.  The weekend promises to be action packed and a tremendous amount of fun.  Spread the word to others who we may not have contact information for.  Tell them to check out our facebook site under "New Brunswick Senior Baseball Alumni" or call Bill "Buzzard" Saunders at 506-458-1711

The organizing committee is looking forward to see you!
