Terrorism...what terrorists don't understand is that when they hit us all; Ottawa, Sydney, Pakistan, and so on. They are not achieving their goals. While their intent is to create strife, violence, and division among most peace loving nations, what they don't understand is that there is more love than hate in the world.
The reality is that these acts bring us closer together. When the world watches a funeral procession moving through Ontario, we all think about our brothers, our sons, and our fathers. When thousands of people lay flowers for the Sydney victims, we think about our friends and families and our local coffee shops. And, when we see small children, shot, crying, and dead or dying,as in Pakistan today, it reminds us that most of us have children, nieces, and nephews.
They think that horrific acts of violence and the coverage and instant impact of global social media will spread their message but all they really end up doing is reminding each of us, that we are not so far apart, that we are not strangers, that we are more like cousins or neighbours, and that in the end, we are more alike than different.
How about ?#?globalstrong? as a hashtag? Peace on earth.
