Third year of work on Centennial Bridge set to start soon, with bridge down to one lane as early as April 9th.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure wishes to advise that the rehabilitation contract on the Centennial Bridge is scheduled to begin again on Monday, April 9, 2017. This contract is the continuation of the last two years, which is Phase 2 - rehabilitation, painting and upgrade of the Miramichi River Bridge No. 1 (Centennial Bridge). This is year 3 of a 3 year contract signed with MacDonald Applicators of Saint John, NB.
For the 2017 construction season, work is expected to finish in October.
The work this year will involve some complete bridge closures (11pm – 5am, Monday-Thursday), similar to last year, with the first one scheduled to begin on April 9.
Also, a single lane closure of a portion of the bridge will be in effect throughout the entire construction season. This single lane closure is anticipated to also begin on April 9. Traffic Control lights will be placed on the bridge to control traffic flow.
Department confirms these first two closures prior to the start dates. Department will continue to communicate all closures via email and the provincial 511 system. A signed detour route will be in place for the bridge closures.
