Andy Hardy, the president of a labour union representing Department of Transportation workers will be the Liberal candidate for the riding of Southwest Miramichi Bay du Vin.
The Liberal Party held its nominating convention today at the MAEA to select a candidate to run in the 2018 provincial election in the riding of Southwest Miramichi Bay du Vin. Karen Howe and Andy Hardy were the candidates, and 147 delegates voted. Hardy got 88 votes and won the nomination.
Howe spoke of a more respectable way of doing politics, and her nominator likened the current MLA to an agitator in a hockey match that gets other players off their game.
Hardy knows a thing or two about competition as he played a lot of hockey and baseball, and declared during his speech that he hates to lose. Anyone who knows him would recognize that as a big understatement.
Howe pledged to continue working for the party come election time, and Hardy promised a victory.
